The Foundation: Tool Paths in CNC Machining

At its core, a tool path is the programmed route that a cutting tool follows relative to the workpiece to achieve the desired shape and dimensions. These paths are generated by CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software based on the 3D model of the part and machining parameters. The efficiency and quality of the final product heavily depend on well-optimized tool paths.  

Stock Removal in Turning

Turning is a machining operation that reduces the diameter of a rotating cylindrical workpiece using a single-point cutting tool. The goal is to remove excess material (stock) to reach the final desired diameter.
